I was playing GodEater on the UMD, I had finished most of the download quests, I heard there was finally a patch for GodEater, I switched to CFW 5.5 GEN-D2. The game works on CFW, thanks to the brilliant hackers online, however, my save file was corrupted when I tried to load the game. I could start a new game save file and use the cwcheats available, but there was no point in that.

There is a way to fix corrupted psp saves from different firmwares, I’m pretty sure you can even use it to edit the unencrypted save files with the proper Gamekey.

Before you start, remember to backup all your save files. I cannot stress how important this is. Don’t be a fool, backup your files.

You’ll need the following files:
1. Gamekey for GodEater (ULJS00237.bin)
2. SED installed
3. Your non-working saved file

http://rapidshare.com/files/390622492/SED_FC_KHBBS0.5.zip

Here are instructions:
1. Put the ULJS00237.bin into your PSP\GAME\SED\gamekey\ directory

2. Run SED from the memory stick

3. Choose the non-working saved file, press the triangle key, and select 解密 (decrypt)

4. Select “YES”.

5. You should see 解密完成 (finished decrypting), after which quit SED.

6. From the PSP’s menu, select GAME > SAVED DATA UTILITY > non-working save file, DELETE. (YES, DELETE)

7. Run GodEater from the GAME > MEMORY STICK > GodEater. Create any character, save the game. Then quit the game.

9. Run SEC from the memory stick again8. This time, select the NEW WORKING SAVED FILE, and select 加密 (encrypt)

10. Select “Yes”

11. If all is well, you should see this 加密完成, if you see something like 解密済デ一タありません go find out how to fix it using the link on the bottom.

12. Run GodEater from the memory stick again, and this time load the file, you will realise that save actually is incorrect, but load it anyway.

13. Oh what do we have here? My original saved file? : D Everything is intact, except for the download quests.

14. It’s not complete until you save again, VIOLA!

I got information from here, and there’s an extra step if you don’t see the “success” screen. http://psper.tw/PSP-Savedata-fix/

The Nokia N900 is a qwerty MID touchscreen smartphone that’s running Maemo 5 Linux as it’s operating system.

Pros:
- Running Maemo 5 = Running Linux = Many open sourced options
- Display of 800 x 480 @ 3.5″ screen
- QWERTY Keyboard
- 5 megapixel Carl Zweiss Tessar lens camera
- Supports Adobe Flash 9.4
- CPU running ARM Cortext A8 (500 MHz)
- Storage: 256 MB Nand, 32 GB eMMC
- Memory: 256 MB Mobile DDR, 768 virtual swap space
- GPU running PowerVR SGX 530 supporting OpenGL ES 2.0
- 3.5mm audio
- A2DP with Bluetooth v2.1
- Activesync (Not tried)
- SyncML
- IRPort

Cons:
- QWERTY Keyboard has no ESC key. (I suppose you can remap it since it’s running linux)
- Weight 181 grams

Anyways, enough of the phone, let’s get to the main topic, installing chinese IME on this phone. Interestingly, penpower actually has free input software for the nokia n900. Of course, this is due to the hard work of the folks who are modifying mscim for n900 in the first place, but seriously, the pp software really kicks ass.

If you can read chinese, you don’t need this guide, and you can just follow the instructions here: http://www.penpower.net/nokia/n900/chinese-cn.htm

Otherwise, follow these steps:
- Access phone menu (touching the top left, where there are six squares)
- Select “More..”
- Select “App Manager”
- Select “Application Manager” dropdown
- Select “Application catalogues”
- Select “New”

Enter the following: (Only the web address and distribution are important.)

Catalogue name: Maemo Extras-devel
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free
Do not click the “Disabled” checkbox

- Select “Save”
The Application Manager will reload the applications you can install from this new repository.

- Select “Application Manager”

Search for, and install these applications in the following order:

- mscim
- n900-locales-ppchinese
- mscim-n900-ppinputmethod

At this point, you can go to the system menu, settings, language & region, device language > and select either “chinese prc, chinese taiwan, or chinese hongkong”

To activate/de-activate the PowerPen ime, hold the CTRL + SPACEBAR.

To de-activate certain input methods, you can goto system menu, settings, MSCIM input methods.

There’s several input methods, in my opinion, it’s better than the free stuff you can install on your windows computer.

- Stroke based keyboard input system (Select 木 three times, and a 森 will appear)
- There is another kind of stroked based keyboard input system but I’m not familiar with usage
- QWERTY Pinyin input
- Handwriting input

Very cool. Alternatively, there’s another method listed here which you might want to try: http://sites.google.com/site/amandahoic/Home/nokia-n900-zhuan-qu/nokia-n900-fan-ti-zhong-wen-bao

You will need the following setup if you do not already have them:

RA-Sapphire-v1.6.2 – http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492
Formatted Class 4 or Class 6 MicroSD Card (6 is better)
26I Radio (2.22.19.26I) – http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/files/ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip
Danger SPL (1.33.2005) – http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/files/spl-signed.zip

Get into recovery mode (Hold Home + Power when turning on)
Format your microSD Card, use the create partition option to easily create your different partitions
I used 512 ext2, 128 swap and the remaining as my fat32.
Convert ext2 to ext3
Convert ext3 to ext4

At this point you will know you have succeeded when you plug your microSD card into an external card reader, it will show a less amount of space available, since some of them have been taken up by the swap and ext4 partition.

Enable USB, copy the files into your microSD Card.
Disable USB

Wipe (data/factory reset)
Flash with version 1.
Let it boot, first time is a little slow.
This is very important, but it was not stressed enough. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS ON YOUR PHONE YET.
After when it shows the screen lock STILL, DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS DON’T EVEN TRY TO UNLOCK IT. If you see some app has crashed, you didn’t wait long enough.
Wait for 5 to 10 mins.
Sign in with the usual setup to configure your google account. Now, if you didn’t listen, you will find that you can’t configure your google account on the setup screen. Then you’ll have to reflash it again.
Verify that you can access your google apps.
Enter Recovery mode again.
Flash with version 1.1.2

If your google apps are not working even though you have signed in, most likely you did not setup the ext4 partition on your microSD card correctly.

Problem: You delete your twitter account, and then you add another tweeter account, but tweetdeck doesn’t save your data and there’s no way to select your default account. I believe it stores the data somewhere, sometimes, you can just install a new version of tweekdeck and it’ll work, other times you have to delete where it previously stored the data.

Solution for windows xp:

Click Start, Select “run”.
In the box that appears, type this:

%APPDATA%\Adobe\AIR\ELS\

Delete the directories that start with “TweetDeckFast…..”

Next,

Click Start, Select “run”.
In the box that appears, type this:

%APPDATA%

Delete the directories that start with “TweetDeckFast…..”

Start TweetDeck

Everyone loves to talk about themselves, they always have somethign to say, especially me. So let me share my own thoughts about dating. One thing to take note of, dating is the easy part, it’s maintaining the relationship, and ending it that’s difficult.

In the most general form of the word “dating”, it is the assesment of yourself, and your dating partner, for compatibility. A personal test of yourself in which you take, and assess the other party, if I can put it that way. This assesment may take one date, or a few dates, and what is important, are also the circumstances leading to the first date and the next dates.

————————

Strangers —> Acquaintances —> Friends —-> Close Friends —-> Buddies

Step 1: Strangers to Acquaintances
If you have no targets within sight, find one. It’s not easy in the beginning, but you’ll get the hang of it if you try. Start hanging out with your friends who bring friends. More likely than not, their friends are people you may like to be accquainted with too.

Ask yourself: Would you be interested in going out with someone who has no friends, no plans?

Step 2: Acquaintances to Friends to Close Friends
Same as above, the more you attempt the more friends you’ll make. Hey, I can’t teach you everything you know.

Step 3: This is where you’ll have to be careful. If you are always giving the “brother” or “sister” vibe, most likely, your target will treat you like their brother/sister. This is the worst case scenario that can happen. Your objective is NOT to be a buddy/relative. Actually I take it back, that is not the worst case, the worst case is you, wallowing in self pity, and being emotional about it all, while your supposed target doesn’t know of your feelings.

Ask yourself: Would you be interested in going out with someone who wallows in self pity?

————————

What should you do on a date? The answer which everyone will tell you at one point or another is to “be yourself”. To be very honest, anyone who asks you to “be yourself” has too high an opinion of you.

Let’s imagine for a while, your life is the absolutely suckiest life there is in this universe, you are aware of this fact, and you behave like a person with a sucky life, and you’re preparing to go on this date, and you have to “be yourself”.

Ask yourself: Would you be interested in going out with yourself?

Ask yourself: Would you be more interested to go out with Tony Stark (Iron Man) more than yourself?

Everyone is different, and not so different what they want, don’t believe me? Let’s see.

- Flaming hot chicks will only go out with someone with a car because of convenience, and show of wealth.
- Other women will go out with anyone who can provide, attention, love, ability to take care of them, etc.

It’s basically more or less, the same thing. Maternally speaking, people who can afford to drive fast cars, can take care of themselves, regardless of the source of money. Confidence is also often linked to success. Laughter can be linked to a worry less life.

Due to certain undisclosable reasons, I have to publish this post now. So checkout this page again when it’s updated!

Recently, I had the chance to play with a BlackBerry. For most telcos, I believe you can do a one to one exchange, but what if you need to backup your data and it’s 3am at night? You can attempt to fix it yourself before deciding to wipe it. Using this method, it is possible to access your BlackBerry while the screen shows the dreaded JVM Error 102 / infinite reset screen.

Install the BlackBerry Desktop application if you have not done so, you should have an installation cd which comes with your BlackBerry or you can download it from here.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/

Download the JL_Cmder JavaLoader Utility from blackberryfreaks.
http://www.blackberryfreaks.com/downloads/JL_cmder/JL_Cmder%20v1.9.zip
http://www.blackberryfreaks.com/JL_Cmder.html

In case you were wondering, I believe, most, if not all BlackBerry applications are running on java. When you download a BlackBerry application from a website, it actually downloads a text file called “application_name.jad” which instructs the BlackBerry to download and install the various installation files onto your BlackBerry. If not, let me know, I’ll tinker with it when I have the opportunity to do so : x

If you open the .jad file with a text editor, you will find that it contains the following instructions/configurations:

SHA Keys for encryption/checksums

Filesize

Packaged file name (application_name.jar)

Descriptions

COD-URL (List of files to download – application.cod, application-1.cod, application-2.cod, etc, etc.)

COD-Size (List of the corresponding file sizes)

Module-name of application

etc, etc.

Turn on your BlackBerry, plug it to your computer with your USB cable. Run JL_Cmder.cmd which you got from JL_Cmder.zip. At this point, you should be able to see a screen similar to this:

For debugging purposes, you can select eventlog (option 2). This will dump the eventlog from the phone, onto notepad for you to view through. Look through the last few lines where it says “error” or “failed”.

In most cases, deleting the offending files will enable you to narrow down which applications are causing you problems. Do note that one application may consist of several cod files to delete. You will need to access the cmd.exe from windows, navigate to where you unzipped the JL_Cmder, and run the following command:

javaloader.exe -u erase -f FILENAME

where FILENAME is the name of the .cod file

So, it could look like this:

javaloader.exe -u erase -f application.cod
javaloader.exe -u erase -f application-1.cod
javaloader.exe -u erase -f application-2.cod

At this point, you should quit JL_Cmder, try to reboot your phone, and pray that it works. If it does, do remember to use the BlackBerry Desktop application to make a backup. Just in case. *wink*

If it doesn’t you have the option of wiping your BlackBerry (option 4), or resettofactory (option 5).

These instructions are for windows, but I doubt any linux user would have any issues adapting this for linux, it’s the steps involved that are important.

Before you start, it is important to backup your entire database. It’s just common sense you know. Backup your views (if any) and your queries also. Do not forget your custom reports (System > Design > Reports), at this point I might point out that when editing/saving a custom report, you should set the grade to anything other than a 0. Because 0 will let it get overwritten.

Determine database version:
System > Master Information Database Information

Determine client version number:
Help > About

http://sourceforge.net/projects/postbooks/files/

You need the latest version of the following:
1. PostBooks-installers
2. PostBooks-updater
3. PostBooks-databases

Existing DB: 3.3.0
Existing Client: Build 6996 (It actually means I was running client 3.3.0, but I didn’t know it at that time)

For my case, a direct database update to 3.4 was not possible, so this was what I had to do:

1. Run Updater-2.2.0 with pb330to331.gz, then
2. Run Updater-2.2.0 with pb331to340.gz
3. Install xTuple-3.4.0-windows-installer.exe, choosing only to install the client.
4. Viola~

If you’re facing issues with PostBooks/xTuple, I would strongly recommend that you register a user account in their community forums, they are pretty quick and knowledgeable, which is really cool for an open sourced company.

There are many types of geeks in existence, physics geeks, math geeks, gamer geeks, tech geeks, and more commonly otakus. Basically there are mild differences between how an otaku and a geek should be, but the generally accepted idea is that most of them are good at what they do, so you might be a foodie geek for all you might know.

Rule 1: Pick something you are really good at. For one, you cannot be a sleeping geek, no matter how good you are at it. Unless you know the scientific differences between sleeping on conventional mattress vs a tempur mattress, AND you can plot it against an actual economic study relating sleeping and sex, then you are a sleeping geek.

Rule 2: You must snigger in contempt if you know someone is wrong. This is very important, you must snigger or blow up in anger, whether it is in front of the person you are humiliating, or inside your head, or when you go home and blog about it. You MUST understand why that someone is wrong, and write an essay of how (or explain of the equivalent) and why that person is wrong.

Rule 2A: If your objective is to be an irritating geek, remember to validate your claim in such a way that your opponent of choice has no way of retaliation. And remember to be smug about it.

Rule 3: Show your love as a geek. Always carry an item which quantifies you as a geek. For example, if you’re a gamer geek, show it with your uber shirts, character key chains, wow lingo, etc. etc.

Important: What you shouldn’t do is, buy a somewhat geeky item, and TOTALLY not know how to use it, and pretend that you are a geek. This will somewhat lower your social status of being a person, which in certain circles, will cast you down to many levels below a geek status. Also, it is very depressing for someone to carry a chocobo keychain, and NOT know what a chocobo is.

Bonus 3A: If you carry an geeky device, make sure you have hacked it to do “additional features”. ie. jailbreaked your iphone to change a theme. Or your pda can replace your car remote, or your psp can use the latest custom firmware, etc, etc.

Rule 4: Have a favourite weekly read
Scientific America, BBC Weekly, WSJ, Sunday Shonen, Dilbert, etc, etc. This way, you can quote intelligent people and still be a fashionable geek.

Rule 5: You must have a stubborn point of view, which can only be validated by an obscure source, which only a fellow geek will understand. For example, IE6 is baddddd.

Rule 6: Pick a god. When I mean god, I mean supreme entity which you will kneel down and call father to if he/she/it ever appears in front of you. ie. Jimmy Choo, Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Steve Jobs, Hideo Kojima, Satoru Iwata, Nobuo Uematsu, Neil Gaiman, Stan Lee, Rumiko Takahashi, Akira Toriyama, etc, etc.

Hopefully, these 6 points will aid you in your quest to become the geek of your choice! LOL!
